Tom Herman Has Fired Multiple Assistants, Texas Is Officially NOT Back

Texas is 7-5 as the college football season winds down and I couldn’t be laughing harder. Texas thought they were on top of the world after they won a meaningless Bowl game over a Georgia team that flat out didn’t show up. Now Texas is 7-5 and it could have been far worse. Tom Herman is pissed. Herman gave this statement and then fired a number of assistants.

“After taking time, looking back and evaluating the season in its totality, I am very disappointed in our performance in a number of areas in 2019,” Tom Herman said in a statement. “7-5 will never be our standard at Texas, and I take full responsibility for any and all of our shortcomings and know we need to do a better job coaching across the board.”

Todd Orlando is the biggest name on the chopping block. Orlando has done a decent job against the Lincoln Riley led Sooners in the past. Orlando was one of the highest paid assistants in the country with an average annual salary of $1.7 million. He gone now. Other changes include offensive coordinator, Tim Beck being demoted. Passing game coordinator Drew Mehringer is gone too. Herman really went to the woodshed and they aren’t the only ones fired.

I thought Texas had a chance to be alright this year but I’m not shocked by 7-5. Why? They have a glorified fullback playing quarterback. Sam Ehlinger can’t play. I tried to tell you that before the year started. He should have never been hyped up as an NFL quarterback. Texas isn’t winning anything if Ehlinger is their quarterback. Ehlinger is lucky if he’s poor man Tebow. If only Tom Herman could have brought Greg Ward with him from Houston. Then they might be in business.
