Three Early Pitches for CM Punk at WWE WrestleMania 39

CM Punk always seems to be at the center of professional wrestling conversations. Whether its fans debating when he will return to the ring or if AEW should bring him back, Punk always finds himself in the middle of it.

There is no denying he is one of the best wrestlers of the past decade, but these last few months haven’t been his best. Punk was suspended following his comments at the All Out press conference. Furthermore, he was reportedly injured during his match at All Out, too.

Punk’s future with AEW has been in question. There have even been reports that AEW may be buying out his contract, making him a free agent. Plus, WWE has reportedly shown interest in bringing him back.

As a result, let’s go over some early pitches for CM Punk at WrestleMania 39.

CM Punk vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin

CM Punk has faced countless wrestling legends throughout his career. From AJ Styles to John Cena and the Rock, he has faced them all, or has he?

One legend that CM Punk has yet to face is the Texas Rattlesnake, Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Austin competed at WrestleMania 38, which was his first match in almost 20 years. More recently, Austin has been posting workout videos on his personal Instagram account. This led fans to speculate about his return to the ring. While Austin claimed the reason for him working out was because he didn’t look good, fans, including myself, can’t help but hope he returns for another match at WrestleMania 39.

It’s hard to put into words just how big of a match this would be. Two of the most rebellious wrestlers in the history of the sport going at it for the first time ever. It brings me chills just thinking about it. Now, there are a lot of reasons why this will never happen, but we can fantasize, right?

This wouldn’t be the most impressive match in the ring, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be good. Think about the promos leading up to the match. It would be a true clinic and a dream come true for many fans to be able to watch this match.

CM Punk Invades WWE

CM Punk is reportedly dealing with an injury that is going to sideline him for quite some time, so this option may be the most realistic.

We haven’t had a good invasion in a while and to be honest, I think we’re due for one. While Punk may not be able to wrestle at WrestleMania 39, he can still appear in the company.

A good way to bring him back would be to have him invade the show. The voice of the voiceless would buy a ticket as any fan would, but he would hop the barricade and go into the ring. From there, he would sit cross-legged and cut a promo. Triple H would come out and have him removed from the arena.

Nevertheless, Punk would keep appearing and invading shows until he gets a match. His first match can either be for a WWE contract or simply that he just wants to beat the people he despises.

Punk invading WrestleMania 39 would be a good way to get the fans back on his side and help steer his career back in the right direction.

CM Punk Confronts Roman Reigns

This is another option where Punk doesn’t have to immediately wrestle.

WWE has reportedly been discussing having Roman Reigns defend both the WWE and Universal Championships on both nights of WrestleMania 39. Punk could confront Roman Reigns following his match for the Universal Championship, which will likely be the main event for the second night.

Regardless of who Reigns faces, he needs to retain the Universal Championship, but that doesn’t mean Punk can’t show up.

Following Reigns’ match, Punk can come out and confront him. Punk feuding with Reigns would make a lot of sense. Punk essentially hates everything about Roman, plus Punk has a history with the Shield. Furthermore, Paul Heyman is a former advocate of CM Punk so there is even more history there.

This would be a big-money feud and likely one of the biggest feuds of the last decade.
