The amount of NBA rumors that claim the Knicks are going to win the offseason this upcoming summer make me want to puke. Not because of the actual possibility but because of where the rumors come from. How do these stories even get started? Who is pushing these narratives? I don’t have a real answer.
The biggest reason why I don’t believe any of the rumors is because of the Knicks dysfunction. Nobody wants to play for James Dolan. The reason is because his business isn’t a well run one. Today a story came out that perfectly describes the Knicks.
During the 2013 NBA Draft, one team did not send a scout to Greece to take a look at Giannis Antetokounmpo. Guess who that might have been?
“Scouts started flying to Greece. Every day, practice and games. Executives, GMs, assistant coaches – every team came. Twenty-nine teams.
Except Knicks.”
Kevin Durant already explained the Knicks franchise perfectly. “I have nothing to do with the Knicks. I don’t know who traded Porzingis”. Porzingis wanted out because of the dysfunction. This is not a well run franchise. Never has been. Now stars want to play for James Dolan? Not buying it.
I’m not blaming any team for passing on Giannis. I remember watching the draft that year. It looked like he was playing on a Nerf hoop. I’m being serious. It didn’t even look real. Turns out that was pretty accurate of his NBA career. Nobody makes the rim look like a Nerf hoop more than Giannis does. However, not sending a scout? That’s just a lack of intelligence and due diligence.
The “Finding Giannis” documentary will air on Saturday at 6:30 ET on TNT. Knicks fans may not want to tune in. I sure as hell will have this set on my DVR.
