Squirrel White is on the move. Right now, he’s just a really cool name but has the potential to be much more. He’s just been buried on the depth chart at Tennessee because their wide receiver room is totally loaded. After entering the transfer portal, the Squirrel man has found his next landing spot.
White, a former four-star prospect in the 2021 high school recruiting class, has signed with Florida State.
On3’s Hayes Fawcett was the first to report the news:
In three seasons with the Vols, White compiled 131 Receptions for 1,665 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns. The 5-foot-10, 165 pound receiver will likely start right away with the Seminoles and has just one season of eligibility remaining.
2024 was a down year for White. He suffered a number of nagging injuries and finished the season 381 receiving yards on 34 catches, which was the worst production year of his career.
To add my own personal spin to this, I’m not sure this was a smart decision by the Squirrel man. Why you would trust any offense that features Gus Malzahn and his high school scheme (who FSU hired this offseason after he quit on UCF) blows my mind. Not to mention the fact that Thomas Castellanos is the new quarterback who is much more of a rushing threat than passing threat.
Are we sure Florida State won’t suck again and even if they don’t… can Castellanos even get him the ball? All fair questions entering 2025.
