Is The Ted Lasso FIFA 23 AFC Richmond Career Mode Series Fun?

When it was announced that FIFA 23 would include Ted Lasso and AFC Richmond, I think I threw a mini party for myself. I knew then and there I was going to start a career mode series with the fighting Ted Lasso’s. Has the experience lived up to the hype? Is the Ted Lasso series with AFC Richmond a fun career mode start-up in FIFA 23?

Before I answer that, for those that want to check out my series, the link to episode one can be seen here! The playlist for the entire series on YouTube can be seen using this link!

The easy answer is YES! This AFC Richmond has been the gift that keeps on giving. It’s easily the most fun career mode series I’ve ever played. The TV show itself made the characters in the game feel more beloved. It’s all about the grind that makes this fun. Fighting through the Championship League to get to the Premier League was easier then expected but that comes with the territory of if you know what you’re doing.

I thought it was a perfect balance. I didn’t feel like I was starting with a totally clean slate. I had guys like Jamie Tartt, Dani Rojas, Isaac McAdoo, Roy Kent, and Sam Obisanya to start the series. I like having a core group of players I can at least have fun with before I start adding to the team. The resources given felt like the perfect amount for what the TV show portrays.

In years past I have made career modes with teams that were down in the dumps. Having an attachment to Jamie Tartt breaking the goal scoring record in the Premier League trumps any past experience in Career mode. Adding transfers to the loveable core to round out a championship team is peak career mode. It simply doesn’t get better.

We’re through two seasons of the career mode but so far we are on track to achieve the ultimate goal. Imagine lifting the Champions League Trophy with Ted Lasso. FIFA outdid themselves this time. If you have FIFA 23 and you haven’t started a career mode with AFC Richmond, what are you waiting for?
