Tank Bigsby Looks Like The Touchdown Hog For Jaguars

The tea leaves are dropping. It’s a matter of if you’re picking up on them at this point. It’s already been reported that Travis Etienne is going to have a reduced workload this year. Jacksonville just doesn’t believe in running the former Clemson product into the ground. Now we have more information that might really discourage Etienne fantasy owners. Get ready for Tank Bigsby to be the touchdown hog in Jacksonville.

John Shipley at Sports Illustrated has written a column that claims Tank Bigsby has been one of the standouts at training camp. More importantly, he’s seizing the job as the short yardage back already.

“It was always expected that rookie running back Tank Bigsby would be even better with pads on than he was in shorts and a helmet. But it was still staggering to get an up-close view of what defenses will now have to prepare for when it came to Bigsby, who lived up to his name in a huge way. Bigsby scored two rushing touchdowns during a red-zone period against the starting defense, showing impressive downhill acceleration to combine with his hulking size. Bigsby looked like a runaway freight train when hitting the hole and if Tuesday was any indication, he could be in line for short-yardage touches early in his career.”

I tried to tell you this months ago. Tank is a freight train. The former Auburn product had a ridiculous broken tackle rate in college and this is someone that I was VERY high on coming into the 2023 NFL Draft (link to draft profile). This is much more than sharing time with James Robinson. Tank is a different level of player.

If Etienne isn’t scoring touchdowns, how valuable is he in fantasy? Better yet, if Tank is as good as I think he can be, isn’t it only a matter of time before he steals the job outright?
