SimBull 2021 CFB Full Team Breakdown: Duke Blue Devils

Welcome to Vendetta’s SimBull CFB full team breakdowns, where the writers from Vendetta Sports Media will be analyzing all the Power 5 college football programs for their share value on SimBull. This edition looks at the Duke Blue Devils.

2020 Record: 2-9 (1-9 ACC)

2021 Projected Win Total (via DraftKings): O/U 3.5

On The Field

The Blue Devils currently sit at 1-1, with both games having been against FCS opponents in Charlotte and NC A&T. Duke’s offense has struggled to hang on to the ball, fumbling three times – they lost two – through the pair of games. Running back Mataeo Durant takes the brunt of the offensive load and can keep the team in conference games.

Duke has several winnable games coming up, including a Nerd Bowl matchup today (9/18) against Northwestern and then a game against Kansas at home. They face three current top 25 ACC opponents in UNC, Virginia Tech and Miami, with the latter being the only game at home. The Blue Devils will need a bit of luck to steal some wins against conference opponents, but there’s always a possibility with Durant in the backfield.

In the Market

At its value, Duke does have some upside, but it’s marginal. The current share price for the Blue Devils is valued at $25.73, which ranks second to last in the ACC and 60th among the 65 Power Five teams. Of course, at their value they would likely be a hold.

The Blue Devils lost their season opener to FCS opponent Charlotte, in a game where they struggled to hold onto the ball. If they can remedy their turnover problem, then this is a team that could win a couple of games in conference play. However, despite their best efforts, the Blue Devils are still squarely behind bitter rival UNC in regards to in-state recruiting – as well as NC State – and while Mack Brown is still eight miles down the road, David Cutcliffe likely isn’t stealing many talents from the Heels.

Duke is a good SimBull CFB share to consider investing in, but the extra couple of dollars could be better spent on a Big Ten or SEC school.
