This has been a long time coming. The Ottawa Senators are a really good young team. They have just been held back because the franchise continues to shoot itself in the foot over and over again. The dumbass that has shot themselves in the foot has finally been fired. Pierre Dorion is out in Ottawa.
Elliotte Friedman of SportsNet was the first to report the news:
A few months ago I wrote a letter to Ryan Reynolds begging him to hire me if he purchased the team. This team made so many idiotic mistakes and I don’t even know where to begin. A lot are listed in the link in the start of the paragraph. This team gave away Filip Gustavsson for old as dirt Cam Talbot. They got robbed in the Mark Stone trade. Dorion botched the cap and didn’t have the money to sign Shane Pinto. The Alex DeBrincat deal was terrible.
Frankly, I have no idea how this guy kept his job for this long. How did Ottawa not figure out after eight years of losing that this guy had no idea what he was doing? Eight years of losing and remaining employed. Truly incredible. The sad part is this team has serious young talent and they should be in a spot to compete.
Steve Staios is the new President of Hockey Operations. I assume he will either take over the job himself or hire a new man for the job. Time will tell what happens, but on paper, this should be a really good job.
