The Red Sox Have Eclipsed The Yankees As The Premier Franchise In The AL East

Some things you cannot control. I’ve always been told I would peak later in life. As a kid, I had childhood depression. I hate life when I was 5 years old. I wasn’t interested in anything outside of sports. The Boston Red Sox were my first love. Year after year, I watched my favorite team get their hearts ripped out. They called the Red Sox cursed. I sort of embraced it because I felt cursed as a little kid. I was always told “it will get better when you get older, you already suffered enough pain as a kid”.

I got stuck watching little snobs jump on the Yankees bandwagon because it was the thing to do. It was easy to root for a team that spent more money than everyone else. It was easy to root for the team that always won. It was easy to just fall into the mind trap of the Yacht club Yankees. Rich spoiled brats that never could win anything in their lives on their own. It was always the squirly kid that could never grown a beard when they got older.

Boy, oh boy, things got better.

Things aren’t just better. They have completely flipped. They flipped in a way I never expected. The once big bad Yankees have turned into the San Diego Padres. Any mid market team you want to call them really. Since the turn of the decade, the New York Yankees have not reached the World Series. In that time, teams like the Royals, Mets, Indians, Rangers, and Tigers have reached the World Series.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox have become the Yankees. They have more championships than any other franchise since 2001. The Red Sox spend more money than everybody else. They’re the ones that sign the big fish in free agency. They’re the ones’ that trade for the big fish on the market. When Boston gets into the postseason, they feel like the hunted ones. When they get in, they feel like the favorites. When the Yankees, get in, you expect them to choke. Over the last 10 years, the Red Sox have won the division more than any other team.

This is the lowest the Yankees franchise has ever been. They failed to reach a World Series this decade for the first time since the 1910’s. Right now the franchise is more known for the goomba douchbags that roam the stadium rather than the success of the baseball team. Now the Yankees have turned their franchise into a chicken shit team too scared to pull off the big move and a scumbag owner who loves domestic violence abusers.

The Boston Red Sox have become the gold standard in the AL East, and boy does it feel good. I already have a plan to make the Red Sox champions again in a heartbeat. As for the Yankees? I’m sure it will be another offseason making excuses how player X cost too much.
