Raiders Sign Gardner Minshew In Free Agency

Gardner Minshew is getting a raise. A big one. Not bad for a guy who almost went into a permanent coaching role in college before Mike Leach called. RIP Mike Leach. Somewhere out there he’s smiling today at how much money the former Washington State quarterback is making now. Minshew has agreed to a deal with the Raiders in free agency.

It’s for a lot more money than he was making with the Colts. It’s more along the lines of Jimmy Garoppolo money.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero has reported that Las Vegas has not only signed Gardner Minshew. They are also giving him a two-year deal worth $25 million and $15 million is guaranteed.

What does this say about Aidan O’Connell? I tried to tell you they were liars. They can say whatever they want but we all know the truth. The real question is what does this mean for the draft? Is QB still a priority or is this their way of saying they won’t get the one they want because they’re picking too high? AKA Jayden Daniels (Antonio Pierce has a connection to him during their Arizona State days).

Maybe they have a backup QB option in mind for the draft that they hope to have Minshew start Week 1. Maybe that’s JJ McCarthy, Bo Nix, or Michael Penix Jr.? Food for thought.

Minshew, 27, posted a 15-9 TD to INT ratio in 17 games played.

Las Vegas was busy today. They also added Christian Wilkins in a big money deal earlier at the start of free agency.
