After an amusing QB merry-go-round this offseason, the Raiders have found their guy. But is it best for their future? Who knows? The Las Vegas Raiders have signed Jimmy Garoppolo to a three-year, $67.5 million deal, including $34 million guaranteed. According to Adam Schefter.
The Las Vegas Raiders recently let go of franchise QB Derek Carr after relationship with team slowly crumbled. For more information on the Carr signing, click here. The Raiders were on the hunt for multiple QBs during this offseason as Carr’s time slowly ended. Now with Lamar Jackson being tagged, and Aaron Rodgers essentially heading to the New York Jets, the Raiders had to pick up a franchise QB now instead of starting a rebuild.
This offseason has been something different, and now add Jimmy G to the Raiders, it has gotten a lot more dramatic. The former 49ers QB has been at the heat of criticism the last few years because of his play style. They have stereotyped him to not be able to throw more than a check down to his receivers and it is showing to receivers. His now teammate Davante Adams sounded off on Twitter with the signing of Garoppolo. He deleted his tweet, and it was viewed as a misconception. He has now updated it to show love to Garoppolo.
In 11 games last season, Garoppolo played fair. He posted 16 touchdowns with only four interceptions. He added on around 2,500 passing yards as well. In 2022-23, Garoppolo had the statistically third best season of his career, only behind his 2021 and 2019 seasons.
