PSG Set To Sign Ousmane Dembélé

According to ESPN, PSG is set to sign Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembélé. Dembélé has apparently already agreed to a five-year contract with PSG and is now determined to move to Paris.

PSG has been a long-time admirer of the 26-year-old French international. He has a €50 million ($55 million) release clause in his Barca contract that will increase to €100 million on July 31. PSG has decided to move for Dembélé before his release clause doubles.

Dembélé also has the option to extend his contract with Barcelona. However, PSG officials are confident that Dembélé will reject this option and will opt to move to France instead.

Dembélé moved to Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 in a blockbuster deal worth €105m. He has made 185 appearances and scored 40 goals for Barca. He has also won three La Liga titles.

Great things were expected of the then 20-year-old. However, injuries have plagued his time with Barcelona, and he has yet to reach the heights that many thought he would.

He is still an elite player though who Xavi sees as a key player. However, with Barcelona’s current financial situation, he understands that the funds the club gets from Dembélé’s transfer would benefit the club and is comfortable selling him.

Dembélé’s signing would be yet another for PSG, as the club looks to rebuild ahead of next year. Luis Enrique was brought in as the club’s new head coach, and since then, the club has looked to move on after Lionel Messi departed the club and Kylian Mbappé‘s contract dispute with PSG rages on.

So far, PSG has signed names such as Marco Asensio, Milan Škriniar, Lucas Hernández and Manuel Ugarte. Now, it looks like Dembélé will be the next to join this list as PSG continues its rebuild ahead of the upcoming season.
