How far would you go to get a signed jersey from your favorite player? If I had to guess you probably would not go as far as one Josh Norris fan did to get an Ottawa Senators jersey signed by Norris himself.
One huge Norris fan ended up getting a tattoo of Norris’s face on his stomach. It was not a small tattoo either, this guy, Mason Kohne, got a full-sized picture of Norris tattooed across his stomach that takes up more than half of his belly.
Following an exchange on Instagram between Kohne and Norris, it was agreed that Norris would send Kohne a signed jersey if he proved he had gotten Norris’s face tattooed on him.
It was by no means a cheap trade as Kohne’s tattoo cost quite a lot. $1,000 later Kohne had his tattoo completed and was waiting for Norris to fulfill his side of the agreement.
If I were Kohne I would think of this as an absolute win when the jersey appears. It does not matter who the player is or what the sport is, this kind of passion and insanity at times is the reason why so many people across the world love sports.
Now you might be wondering who Josh Norris even is, and frankly, you’re probably not alone. Norris is a center for the Ottawa Senators in his second full season in the NHL. Norris had 35 points in his rookie season, finishing with 17 goals and 18 assists. This was enough for him to finish fourth in voting for the Calder Memorial Trophy given to the NHL’s rookie of the year.
While the season Norris had was not enough to win the Calder it was good enough to win the hearts of fans and you know you’ve done something right when someone gets your face tattooed on their body.
So far in the 2021-22 NHL season, Norris has surpassed his goal total last year with 18 goals in 36 games for the Senators. Unfortunately for the Senators and Kohne, in their game against the Carolina Hurricanes on January 27th Norris exited early with an upper-body injury. He is currently questionable to play in the team’s next game on January 29th against the Anaheim Ducks.
And at the end of the day though Kohne got what he wanted, Norris got what he wanted, and the rest of us have something to follow along with that is funny and entertaining. I think it’s safe to say this has been one of the best trades of the NHL season up until now.
