Nyheim Hines Will Miss 2023 NFL Season Via Knee Injury
The Buffalo Bills are down a running back before the 2023 NFL Season ever began. Nyheim Hines will miss the 2023 NFL Season with a knee injury. Hines only notched nine carries for Buffalo in 2022 but has proven to be a really good return man.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network was the first to report the news:
#Bills RB Nyheim Hines suffered a significant knee injury off-site and is expected to miss the entire 2023 season, sources tell me and @RapSheet.

Hines, 26, was acquired by Buffalo at last year’s trade deadline. It was a deal that sent Zack Moss and a conditional late round pick to Indianapolis. Given the news of this injury, maybe the Bills would like to have this trade back. Moss averaged 4.8 yards per carry in eight games with the Colts last season.
The only prior post we have on Hines dates back to his Colts’ playing days. Hines has proven to be a weapon in space and can really catch the ball. That was his specialty coming out of NC State. It’s a shame that this knee injury happened because Hines was at least starting to find a role in Buffalo even if it was only special teams. Hines was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the fourth round (104th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.
The Bills signed Damien Harris this offseason but also lost Devin Singletary to Houston. The real X-Factor, however, is James Cook. If Cook has a breakout season that we all anticipate, the loss of Hines probably won’t be something that’s even noticed.
Deonte Harty and Khalil Shakir are possible candidates internally to take over the return duties left over by Hines.
