Stetson Bennett ecstatic to work with Sean McVay: ‘I hear he’s a genius’
Newly drafted Los Angeles Rams quarterback Stetson Bennett is excited to learn from his new head coach in Sean McVay. Bennett says he can learn a lot from McVay.
Bennett became a college football legend the last few seasons, winning two national championships with the Georgia Bulldogs and cementing himself as one of the most decorated college quarterbacks of all time. Now, Bennett will join alongside former Bulldog and current Rams starting quarterback, Matthew Stafford.
Outside of Stafford, the Rams have had much success under McVay with the playbook in hand. As the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams, McVay has had one losing season, which happened in 2022. The campaign spiraled in large part because of Stafford facing four separate injuries in 2022, causing him to miss much of the season.
“Excited to work with Coach McVay. I don’t know much, but I hear he’s a genius,” Bennett said, via PFT. “And excited to work with Matt and all the other quarterbacks in the room.”
After meeting with the Rams in pre-draft interviews, Bennett gave credit to the team’s offense. Bennett said “they’re real smart and I’ve got a lot to learn.” He would later add on that they make the offense very easy.
With the departure of Baker Mayfield and Stafford aging, the Rams pulled the trigger on Bennett in the fourth round. The Rams selected the 25-year-old with the 128th overall pick only a few days ago. Before the draft, rumors speculated the two-time national champion going much later in the draft because of his age, but now Bennett is once again on his way to prove the doubters wrong.
