Multiple Women Step Forward In Redskins Sexual Harassment Scandal

Multiple women step forward in Washington Redskins Sexual Harassment Scandal in what is an ugly and disgusting look for the franchise. (Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports)

Burn the Washington Redskins to the ground. At least, that’s what it feels like. Many of us thought a new name was the biggest story revolving the Washington football team this Summer. This again. More than a dozen women have stepped forward in a major sexual harassment scandal. Multiple team employees are involved.

This story dropped VIA the Washington Post:

Below is the first couple of paragraphs from the story:

“A few months after Emily Applegate started working for the Washington Redskins in 2014, she settled into a daily routine: She would meet a female co-worker in the bathroom during their lunch breaks, she said, to commiserate and cry about the frequent sexual harassment and verbal abuse they endured.

They cried about the former chief operating officer’s expletive-laced tirades, Applegate said, when she recalled him calling her “f—–g stupid” and then requesting she wear a tight dress for a meeting with clients, “so the men in the room have something to look at.” They cried about a wealthy suiteholder who grabbed her friend’s backside during a game, Applegate said, and the indifference the team’s top sales executive displayed when she complained.”

The story details the story of Emily Applegate but also says 15 women came forward about sexual harassment. Team owner Daniel Snyder did not comment on the situation. This story is not great and rumors have already started flying that Snyder may be forced to sell the team.

The column also details how Larry Michael, the club’s longtime radio voice, and Alex Santos abruptly resigned before the news dropped. That’s likely a clear sign they were guilty and the story details a lot of disgusting allegations. It remains to be seen what will transpire following this article. It’s a terrible look for this franchise that already needed a better image. I encourage all of you to read this story.
