MLB Announces Futures Game Rosters

Earlier today, Major League Baseball released the rosters for the annual All-Star Futures Game. The All-Star Futures Game is held every year prior to the MLB All-Star Game and features the best current prospects in baseball. This year’s game, which is scheduled for July 11, will be the second game played under the format that was adopted in 2019, in which the American League plays National League in a seven-inning game. This year’s games, along with the Home-Run Derby, will take place at Coors Field in Colorado.

Thirty-two of the 50 players selected to participate this year rank among MLB’s top 100 prospects, and the game will feature elite prospects, including the number two prospect in baseball, Adley Rutschman. Rutschman will not be the only top ten prospect playing, as Spencer Torkelson (INF, Tigers), Jarred Kelenic (OF, Mariners), Julio Rodriguez (Mariners, OF), Bobby Witt Jr. (Royals, SS), and C.J. Abrams (Padres, SS) are on the rosters as well.

Game Features Other Top Prospects

Some of the other prominent names playing in this year’s Futures Game include Marco Luciano (SS, Giants, #12 prospect), Riley Greene (OF, Tigers, #15 prospect), Austin Martin (Blue Jays, SS, #16 prospect), Jasson Dominguez (OF, Yankees, #24 prospect), and Quinn Priester, the Pirates #3 top prospect and MLB’s 37th top prospect.

The full rosters are available here. This year features a lot more star power than previous Futures Games, which should make for a great game. Four players from the 2019 Futures Game will be competing in this one as well: Jarred Kelenic, Cardinals Third-Basemen Nolan Gorman (#28 prospect), DiamondBacks Outfielder Alek Thomas (#62 prospect), and Giants Outfielder Heliot Ramos (#63 prospect) all appeared in the 2019 Futures Game.

Where To Watch The Game

MLB Network televises the game, and MLB.Com will stream it as well. SiriusXM will also air the game at 3 p.m. ET. The National League manager is Two-Time All-Star Vinny Castilla, who had his best years with the Colorado Rockies, winning three Silver Slugger Awards. In the opposing dugout will be LaTroy Hawkins, a key piece in Colorado’s bullpen that helped the team win a pennant in 2007. Unlike the uniforms, this game should live up to expectations. All the talent participating should make this year’s Futures Game a great one.
