Mike Mayock Has Faith In His Offensive Line
The Las Vegas Raiders decided to do an entire overhaul of their offensive line this offseason, replacing multiple starters from a year ago. These decisions have left fans and members of the media questioning what they were thinking. But if you ask Mike Mayock, he has a different opinion. He seems to have faith in this line he has rebuilt and it is for the better. He drafted Alex Leatherwood with their first pick in the NFL Draft this year and Andre James is also looking to make his name on this starting offensive line.
Full quote from Pro Football Talk via NBCSports.com:
“I know a lot of people were like, ‘Wow, why’d they do that?’” Mayock said, via Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “But I don’t feel like we took a step back and we wouldn’t have made the moves if we felt that. . . . You can criticize all you want, and I’m talking about the world in general, but I can’t tell you how excited I am to watch our new group play next year. We’re committed to what we’re doing and we believe in them. We really believe we got younger, we got more athletic and we saved a bunch of money.”
The decisions not only from this past off-season but basically the entirety of Mike Mayock’s run as General Manager of the Las Vegas Raiders have left some people questioning if he was the right man for the job to begin with. If this offensive line overhaul works out, he will be praised and all doubts about him will go out the window. But if this line falters and the Raiders fail to make the NFL Playoffs again this season, some might be calling for his job.
