Mauricio Pochettino is Certain He and Kylian Mbappé Will Stay at PSG
Amidst speculation of a departure Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino has come out and said on Thursday that he is “100%” certain that both he and Kylian Mbappé will be at PSG come the start of next season.
Following PSG’s exit from the UEFA Champions League in the Round of 16 against Real Madrid, there was a lot of press that thought Pochettino would be sacked. PSG had a 2-0 advantage on aggregate going into the second half of the second leg, but a Karim Benzema hattrick sent the French side out in shocking fashion. To make things worse this was the year for PSG to win their first Champions League after they went out and signed Lionel Messi.
More talk of Pochettino leaving the club came last weekend despite PSG clinching the Ligue 1 title with a 1-1 draw with Lens. It was also rumored that Tottenham manager Antonio Conte would be replacing Pochettino over the summer.
The Argentine has been the manager of PSG since January 2021 and still has one year left on his current contract.
It has also been highly documented that Mbappé could be transferring to Real Madrid following the 2021-22 season. The French star’s contract is set to end at the conclusion of the season and Real Madrid has been very vocal about signing Mbappé on a free transfer.
This would be a big loss for PSG as Mbappé has been superb in the French capital. He has scored 165 goals and 83 assists in his five seasons at PSG.
There have been more doubts over Mbappé staying in Paris as it was reported that there were two sides appearing amongst the PSG team. However, talks between Mbappé’s team and PSG president Nasser al Khelaifi have been trending in the right direction as of late.
Keeping both Pochettino and Mbappe would be great for PSG and a second year of Neymar, Messi, and Mbappe would be one that all fans would enjoy.
