Matthew Stafford has been traded to the Rams and Jared Goff has been traded to the Lions in the first blockbuster trade of the 2021 “offseason.” This was first reported by Adam Schefter via Twitter.

As mentioned above, the Lions are receiving Jared Goff, two first-round picks, and a 3rd round pick from the Los Angeles Rams.

Matthew Stafford threw for 4,084 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in the 2020 NFL season with the Lions. The Lions and Stafford agreed to mutually part ways after the 2020 NFL season. The Rams have agreed to swap their Quarterback Jared Goff for the Lions QB. Jared Goff this past season had 3952 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions in one less game that Stafford.

The Rams seemed to be fed up with the lack of winning despite signing Jared Goff to a huge extension last offseason.

Matthew Stafford was the #1 pick in the 2009 NFL Draft and spent 12 seasons with the Lions. In his career stats with the Lions, he had thrown for 45,000 yards, 282 touchdowns, and 144 INTs. He has started all 165 games he was active for with the Lions. That’s an average of 270 yards, 1.7 TDs, .87 per game.

Jared Goff was the #1 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He has spent 5 seasons with the Rams, playing in 69 games. He has a total of 18,000 yards, 107 touchdowns, and 55 interceptions. That is an average of 260 yards, 1.5 touchdowns, .79 interceptions per game. Now, the Rams will start new with Matthew Stafford who now has Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, and Van Jefferson as his WRs. Jared Goff will now have Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones Jr., and Danny Amendola as his WRs.
