Matthew Berry Clearly Doesn’t Watch College Football
Twitter is the best and worst place to be all at the same time. The worst part can basically be summarized by allowing the most uneducated people to tweet their thoughts throughout the day. It’s a really dangerous place to be when the people the networks hire start to spread lies and false agendas. Matthew Berry is the topic for today.
Matthew Berry is a fantasy football guy. Clearly not a college football guy.
Let me make one thing clear. You can find some notes I have listed on Brock Purdy and Skylar Thompson inside this post. Purdy is way better than I thought he would be. No question about it. However, he was still a four-year starter at Iowa State and was recruited by Alabama. If he was a career backup, I wouldn’t have been surprised. Just thought his ceiling was much lower than what we’re seeing. AND… if he’s not playing for Kyle Shanahan right now, who knows. We all saw Nick Mullens, right?
The problem I have with it is that comparing these two is ignorant. Skylar Thompson shouldn’t have gotten drafted. He’s a less talented version of Tim Tebow. The collegiate passing yard stats aren’t close. Mostly because Thompson isn’t a real quarterback. Never will be.
Kansas State just made the Sugar Bowl in their first year without Thompson. Not like he was available half the time anyway. Meanwhile, Iowa State has tanked and just went 4-8 without Purdy after appearing in a Bowl game the previous five seasons. The real people that watch college football would laugh at you for comparing these two.
Also, what’s with this pity party? Thompson is a big boy. He’s in the NFL and getting criticized by the media is part of the job. It’s a necessary evil to create entertainment for the sport. You sound like the same idiots that threw a pity party for Mitch Trubisky after he incorrectly got picked Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes.
Tough spot? I was told Tua Tagovailoa had it easy. In fact, you said that yourself. Last time I checked, Thompson has both of these guys to throw the ball to.
Can’t have it both ways. Can’t say Tua is only functional with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle but Skylar Thompson is in a bad spot. Stay out of the college football / rookie talk, Berry. You’re only half good at fantasy. That’s because maybe ESPN was or wasn’t holding you back. The NFL Draft / rookie talk isn’t for you. Keep some of those thoughts to yourself.
