Edgerrin Cooper 2024 NFL Draft Profile

Weird brain moment side note but anytime I see the name Edgerrin, I think of Colts running back Edgerrin James. While playing a different position, I’m quite sure Edgerrin Cooper would love to have a Hall of Fame career like James did. We’re talking everything and anything relating to the Texas A&M linebacker so enjoy his 2024 NFL Draft Profile!

If you want to join the Cooper fan club, this is how you do it. Spread the Alabama game all over town like it’s the greatest piece of propaganda you have ever seen. The rest takes care of itself. I didn’t document this as much as I should have during the Stock Report notes that week but Cooper was an unstoppable force in that game. This video does it pretty good justice. Just a total wrecking ball against elite competition.

Cooper was part of those ridiculous recruiting classes at Texas A&M. Former four star guy originally recruited to be a pass rusher. He just moves so damn well in space that the transition to off-ball linebacker just made more sense for him. We saw those space movement drills on full display at the Combine. The Covington, Louisiana native checks in at 6-foot-2, 230, and runs a 4.51. I’ll take that time no problem for the inside linebacker. Definitely performed well at the Combine and appears to be a really natural athlete.

Got better and better during his collegiate career. Mostly a special teams guy as a freshman and redshirted in 2020. In 2021, he was mostly a depth piece seeing limited playing time. 2022, Cooper started eight games and began to start making an impact. Did some things well in coverage but was still raw. 2023 was really his breakout campaign. Cooper was named to the First-team Associated Press All-American and First-team All-SEC honors. He also had 84 tackles, 17 TFL, and 8.0 sacks.

Good long speed. Might get a bit tight changing direction but opens the hips up well. Should be more than fine in coverage. Good tackler and has a different bolt when he’s coming downhill.

I have a second round grade on Edgerrin Cooper and he should turn into a high end starter at linebacker for whatever team drafts him. Should wind up being a really good player even if he never reaches Hall of Fame level quality.
