Logan Webb Agrees to Five-Year Extension with Giants
Logan Webb is loving life in the Bay, so much so that the 26-year-old agreed to a five-year deal with the San Francisco Giants.
Debuting in 2019, Webb has become a serviceable starting pitcher and even was the Opening Day starter this year. For the Rocklin, California, native, 2022 was a year to remember. In his fourth year, Webb posted a 15-9 record with a 2.90 ERA and 1.159 WHIP over 192.3 innings. His workload should also increase for this year and beyond following Carlos Rodon’s departure to the Yankees.
Webb has a unique arsenal of pitches. His sinker-slider-changeup combo has yielded some success in the MLB. He has a career record of 31-22 and an ERA of 3.53. While he will not wow you, an arm like Webb would be appreciated by every rotation in the major leagues.
San Francisco will need everything he’s got if they want to compete in the NL West. Things are pretty wide open in the division in the opening phase of the season. At 5-7, the Giants sit 2.5 games back of the Arizona Diamondbacks, who surprisingly lead. And, of course, the Los Angeles Dodgers will be more than just in the mix.
The story of Logan Webb is a good one, and it now has a new chapter. Clearly this is a guy who’s worked hard for a number of years and is now getting recognized for it. Furthermore, failing to get a long-term deal in place could have been detrimental for San Francisco’s starting rotation.
