The knock on Kyle Lowry was his consistency and inability to win in the playoffs. He did that last year and yet, there still is that stigma around him that he needs to do more. However, I am ready to say that Kyle Lowry is one of the best Point Guards in the NBA. He’s played well enough this year to finally be on his side. He has a championship and won in the playoffs as the second option behind Kawhi Leonard. Without Kawhi, the Raptors are still winning games and Kyle Lowry is a big reason for that. I almost put the title as one of the best PGs in the Eastern Conference, but no, he’s one of the best in the league.
Kyle Lowry has made a significant jump in his PPG total. Last year, he was only averaging 14.2 PPG, but now he is averaging 19.7 PPG. That 5.5 PPG increase and a total of 19.7 is good enough to be 2nd in scoring for the Toronto Raptors. While his assist numbers took a bit of a dip, that could be contributed to the emergence of Fred VanVleet, who is due for a fat paycheck this offseason. However, he still averages 7.3 APG, which is still leading the Raptors this year. After it seemed that his career was on the decline, it seems winning a championship has changed that for the better. He is now in a year of resurgence and it is helping the Raptors tremendously this year.
Kyle Lowry needed to be taught how to win. Kawhi Leonard did that for him and the rest of the Raptors. Now, when it seemed his career was on the decline, he has resurged and it seems the Raptors are ready to take another crack at another NBA championship. The Raptors are 2nd in the Eastern Conference and well on their way to at least try to make another run. Kyle Lowry is a huge reason for that. So late in his career, he has finally emerged as one of the best in the business. No one can disagree anymore, he deserves to be here, finally.
