Fred VanVleet Is In Line For A Fat Check This Offseason

Fred VanVleet is balling and he’s earning more money by the day. The former Wichita State product is having a career year across the board. Fred is averaging 18.6 points and 7.4 assists per game. He’s also shooting 40 percent from deep. With VanVleet being an unrestricted free agent after this season, he is setting himself for a fat check this offseason.

Bobby Marks was recently on The Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective Podcast and said a big pay day is going to be there for the Raptors point guard:

“One team told me last week that they think he’s going to get between $25 million and $30 million per season.”

It’s a bad free agent class next year. Andre Drummond is going to end up being the big fish. That’s when you know it’s bad. $25 million is big time money. That’s the type of money you give to a player that can be the 2nd or 3rd option on the team. Can Fred be that guy? Well, he’s sort of proving that he can with Toronto who has been great with Pascal Siakam as their star.

It only takes one team to win the bidding war. The NBA has been notorious for having awful contracts. If Joakim Noah and Timofey Mozgov can get ridiculous pay days, then VanVleet will too.

The Raptors are going to have to let VanVleet walk. They made a mistake giving Kyle Lowry that extension. That money should have been used for VanVleet who is proving to be better and much younger. Regardless of whatever happens in the summer, Fred VanVleet is already an NBA champion and will always be loved in Toronto.
