K.J. Jefferson expected to enter transfer portal

With five seasons already under his belt, Arkansas Razorbacks quarterback K.J. Jefferson is expected to enter the transfer portal, according to Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer of 247Sports.

Jefferson was a force for the Razorbacks back in the 2021 and 2022 season, but this season with Dan Enos and Kenny Guiton manning the plays, Jefferson has experienced some setbacks.

Back in the 2021 and 2022 seasons, with help from the play-calling of Kendal Briles, Jefferson shined. In those two years, the Sardis, Miss., native threw for 45 touchdowns, ran for 15 scores and only threw nine interceptions. Jefferson also added over 2,600 passing yards and over 600 rushing yards in both seasons, but he dropped to only 2,500 total yards this season.

The 6-foot-3 quarterback is certainly a target for many programs who could be looking for a quarterback, such as Ohio State, Washington, Mississippi State, Kentucky and Nebraska.

Jefferson isn’t the only talented quarterback in this offseason’s transfer portal. Former longtime Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers entered the transfer portal; other quarterbacks in the portal include Tyler Van Dyke, Max Brosmer, Will Howard and Brendan Sorsby.

Arkansas had high expectations coming into the 2023 season. Following back-to-back winning seasons behind K.J. Jefferson, the Razorbacks were looking to push their ceiling even further higher. Jefferson and the Razorbacks finished the 2021 and 2022 seasons with bowl eligibility.

Recording back-to-back records of 7-6 and 9-4. However, this season’s expectations fell short. Arkansas finished the season at 4-8, marking their worst record in a 12-game season since 2019.

Jefferson will certainly be a highly-priced target for many top-tier schools needing a quarterback this offseason. For more news regarding his transfer journey, stay updated with Vendetta.
