TCU is sending an abnormal amount of players to the NFL this year. I didn’t think running back would be one after Zach Evans transferred out (read Evans’ profile here). Nevertheless, here we are with Kendre Miller. What should we make of the TCU running back? Let’s go over his 2023 NFL Draft profile!
The first thing that stands out is the size. 5-foot-11 and 215. We don’t have a 40 time but he never appears slow when you watch him. It’s more of an upright running style but this weird plus for having contact balance. Not a ton of shiftiness but he’s a big dude coming at you.
I’m not TCU could have accomplished what they did without Miller. He’s always been a really efficient runner. This past year Miller set a career high mark with 1,399 yards (6.2 per) and 17 touchdowns. There is some receiving ability here too but it’s not like the Max Duggan offense featured too many dump-offs to Miller.
Nothing really stands out about the pass blocking but he’s above average at shedding tacklers. Not someone that goes down easy. Three-Star recruit but did see action in his freshman season which is a really good sign. Really efficient in a limited role the two years prior. Still, it’s worth noting that we don’t have a super big sample size here. It’s mostly one real year of production.
I like Kendre Miller but I’m not winning the race to go draft him. I’m not sure I’d use a pick on the TCU product but he would absolutely be a priority free agent if made available after the draft. He’s someone that has a chance to carve out a role but his lack of third down impact might limit him at the next level.
