Jim Harbaugh: Will He Win Big With The Chargers?
Jim Harbaugh is the new head coach of the Chargers. I just don’t think people have fully wrapped their heads around what this actually means. You do get that Harbaugh is going to win big with the Chargers, right?
Harbaugh, 60, has won 70% of his games as an NFL head coach. That’s not including a 5-3 postseason record. He did that with a 49ers team that wasn’t even good. The year before Harbaugh took over, San Francisco went 6-10. The two years after Harbaugh left, the 49ers went 7-25. People never talk about how bad Trent Baalke is as a general manager. Have you seen the Jaguars team now?
Like… we do get that Harbaugh won 70% of his games with a bad team.
Like… we do get that Alex Smith through his 6th NFL season had a completion rate of 59.6%. By Harbaugh’s second year, Smith was at 70.2%.
Like… we do get that nobody would care who Colin Kaepernick was? You do understand that, right? He took that bum to the Super Bowl. Kaepernick’s record without Harbaugh is 3-16. He was out of the NFL entirely two years after Harbaugh left and nobody would know who he was had he never been his coach.
That’s the truth. Harbaugh is an A+ coach. People view Harbaugh as a former quarterback and offensive guru. It’s not really the truth. Harbaugh is a program builder and breeds excellence based on competition. He holds his players accountable. He holds his staff members accountable. He develops players and coaches. All of his teams win the battle of the line of scrimmage and squeeze you to death like an anaconda.
I don’t think people get what’s about to happen. The Chargers under Brandon Staley had zero physicality and team toughness. It’s going to be night and day under Harbaugh. I just hope you’re ready for it.
