Jason Whitlock Is Mad ESPN Promoted Doris Burke
ESPN has a totally different broadcast booth around Mike Breen this season. Mark Jackson got fired two days ago. Jeff Van Gundy was fired during the June 30th ESPN Layoffs. They will be replaced by the recently hired Doc Rivers and Doris Burke. Jason Whitlock has come out of nowhere and expressed that he’s very upset Burke will receive a promotion.
“I absolutely love Doris Burke,” Whitlock said on his show “Fearless.”
“She does a really good job, but she is not qualified to be the No. 1 broadcaster on the NBA.”
“All of that is out the window. You place a woman in this spot – Doris Burke is good, but if you think she’s woman enough to criticize these multimillionaire NBA players and coaches, it’s not gonna happen,” Whitlock said.
“When one of those players looks over and glares or tries to intimidate,” Whitlock, who was let go a second time after he failed to launch The Undefeated vertical, asked.
“‘What’d you say? What do you know?’ And again, I know she played a little basketball but not in the NBA.”
WTF?
So let me get this straight, Whitlock. You think Doris Burke is awesome but claim she’s not qualified for the job. Then later say “you place a woman in that spot”. How do we not interpret that as Whitlock being a woman hater?
By the way, Burke is Providence’s all-time assists leader and was an All-American in 1987. I think people that actually watch the game enjoy Burke’s commentary. Maybe some people don’t like the hire but you have to do better than “put a woman in that spot” as your reason. This is just trash by Whitlock as usual.
Also, using the players will glare at her as a reason why Burke will be scared to voice her opinion is crazy. Whitlock continues to be a clown and nothing he says is ever surprising. It’s the same hateful nonsense over and over again while he continues to fail at ever looking in the mirror. Nobody listens to Whitlock for his sports knowledge. It’s always over nonsense like this. Have you ever noticed that?
