Jake Paul may retire from boxing if he loses to Nate Diaz

Jake Paul is coming up on the biggest fight of his boxing career as he is scheduled to fight MMA legend Nate Diaz on Aug. 10. Although, this could be Paul’s final boxing match if he does not get his hand raised.

Nakisa Bidarian, the co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions alongside Paul, told Marc Raimondi of ESPN that Paul could retire with a loss. All quotes via TheScore.

“(Jake Paul) may retire if he loses to Nate Diaz,” Nakisa Bidarian, the co-founder of Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, told ESPN’s Marc Raimondi ahead of the fight.

A loss would to Diaz would be Paul’s second consecutive loss in the ring. In his last bout, he suffered his first professional loss, as Tommy Fury earned a unanimous decision over the internet sensation. A loss to Diaz could tank his stock.

“His boxing career is on the line, in terms of being one of the top three or four guys in the entire sport globally,” Bidarian said, referring to Paul’s drawing power. “I think if he was to lose, he’d just go to being another prospect that’s coming up in the ring.”

If Paul decides to put boxing in the rearview mirror, he may begin to dedicate more time to MMA. As Bidarian noted–his boxing career is on the line. That does not mean his combat sports career is on the line. Paul has already signed with the PFL to compete in MMA. Furthermore, he and Bidarian have company equity in the promotion.

The PFL is currently in a great spot after signing former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. If the promotion gets a fight out of Paul and Ngannou in 2024 they could be in a great position.

This is not the first time that Paul teased retirement. In the past, he put out a challenge to UFC President Dana White and put his combat sports career on the line.
