It’s Time To Trade Justin Fields And Begin The Tank

I think we have seen enough. In the NFL, you need a top-10 quarterback to actually compete for a Super Bowl, and the Chicago Bears do not have that.

Do they even have a top-20 QB? Top-25? I know there was a lot of optimism around this team entering the season, but surely Bears fans have to realize this was never going to work. It’s time to face the music: Justin Fields should be shipped out of town and the Bears should begin the Caleb Williams tank-a-thon.

Maybe it’s the system he’s in and his coaching, which he has already blamed. Maybe it’s the front office we should blame for being simply incompetent (which we have said here at Vendetta).

Or maybe, it’s just Fields. He has shown absolutely nothing to give you faith he will ever be a legit NFL Quarterback. Don’t believe me? Let’s just look at his career stats:

  • 5-23 as a starter
  • sub-60% completion percentage
  • 27 TDs-25 INTs
  • 4,638 passing yards (165.6 YPG)

I know the narrative going into the past off-season was that he never had weapons.

Well, they foolishly overpaid for Chase Claypool, which shockingly turned into a disaster. What about DJ Moore? That move seems to really be going well so far and might cost Poles his job, if we’re being honest.

Bears fans can’t seriously sit here and poor their belief in Fields anymore. Honestly, the real question here is who the hell would want Fields on their roster going forward? With the upcoming quarterback class, you’re much better suited to take a stab at one of those guys.

Let’s be serious for a second. I wanted Fields to work for the Chicago Bears. I did. But man, you Bears fans were so obnoxious all offseason that Fields would be a top-10 QB. He would be in the MVP race? Give me a break.

It almost seems like you’re due for how you acted. We had to listen to this all offseason, when we all deep down knew how this story would end. Fields is turning out to be an absolute dud, and the sooner the Bears begin the tank, the better off you’ll be.

I mentioned it before, but this 2024 QB class is LOADED. Caleb Williams is going first if he decides to declare. Honestly, I wouldn’t blame him if he stayed at USC if Chicago got the first pick. I wouldn’t want to play in this offense either. Behind him are guys like Drake Maye and Quinn Ewers, who are fantastic consolation prizes.

These three are worlds better than Fields is right now, and if the Chicago Bears had a chance to get one of those three, they should not waste a single second contemplating the decision and just go for it.

I know it’s hard to hear, but the time to move off Justin Fields is now. Get whatever you can for him, go into full-on tank mode, and pray Caleb Williams decides to play for your team when you pick No. 1 overall. This team will never be competitive with Fields out there, just accept it.
