DeAndre Hopkins recently made the questionable decision to join the Tennessee Titans Sunday, and now he can add a bit more controversy to his plate.
Madden 24 released their top 10 wide receiver ratings Monday and Hopkins was ranked as the No. 7-highest rated receiver at 93 overall. Madden rating adjusters have always been kind to the 30-year-old wideout, putting him at a 96 overall after the 2021 season, when he played in 10 games and posted 572 yards and hauled in eight touchdowns.
In 2022, DeAndre Hopkins played in just nine games, posting 717 yards with three receiving touchdowns. Somehow, Hopkins is a 93 overall in Madden 24, above AJ Brown, Terry McLaurin and Amari Cooper.
These three receivers easily had better years than Hopkins did, especially Brown. He posted career highs in receptions (88) and yards (1,496) and added 11 scores while helping clinch a Super Bowl berth. Still, Brown is a criminally underrated 91 overall this year.
McLaurin, (who is also above Brown oddly), posted 1,191 yards on 77 receptions to go along with five touchdowns and played in every single Commanders game in 2022. Cooper also played in every game last year, totaling 1,160 yards on 78 receptions and 9 scores. These two are well deserving of a top-10 spot in the game.
There’s no doubt that DeAndre Hopkins is in line for a future hall of fame nod, and is a top 10 receiver in the league when healthy, but there’s no way he should be rated this high based on last year alone.
