I finished Grace and Frankie a long time ago but just realized I did not write the official review on the show. I’ve been trying to get some TV time in recently just writing up reviews for Partner Track and Queen of the South recently. When it comes to Grace and Frankie, is this quirky show worth the watch?
First things first, let me just start by saying it’s impressive the writers were able to keep this puppy going for SEVEN seasons. In reality, this thing could have been done after one season but they did a great job to squeeze every drop out of this concept.
As always, I try to limit the spoilers but I’ll give this away because the premise here is very obvious. Two lawyers and their wives go out to dinner one night to celebrate. Turns out, the lawyers are gay for each other and the two wives are left stranded unsure of what to do.
The first season is hilarious watching everyone grasp with what’s going on. It does go downhill the more time goes on but it’s worth the watch. The episodes are also really short so you can grind through this show no problem. There is also a great dynamic with Grace and Frankie. They go from mortal enemies to best friends. Somehow losing their husbands made it worth it?
Not a perfect show but one that’s more than watchable and also very family friendly. If you want to impress your mom by giving her a corny family sit com, this is the show for you.
