Queen Of The South Review
This is peak TV right here. So good that Netflix had to have it after initially appearing on USA Network. This review won’t really be a review. It’s a puff piece. I just finished the final season of Queen of the South and while the ending was a tad weird, you’re not going to get much better than this.
Queen of the South rocks. No other way to put it. A woman from the streets of Mexico rises to power and becomes the most dangerous cartel leader on the planet. I don’t know what will get you going if that doesn’t get you going. Yes, you kind of have an idea she’s going to rise to power but you don’t know how and that alone is worth the watch.
Unlike the last review, I did on Partner Track, the side characters here are awesome. Just watching James and Pote go full on gangster mode is worth the price of admission alone. Beyond just trained killers. The crazy part is, Teresa is the most gangster of all of them.
I don’t know how I feel about an official rating but I can’t imagine there is much better TV out there. It will be a show I always remember fondly. It will be a show that kept me entertained for FIVE seasons. Something that’s really hard to do now. Even knowing the end result, there are so many quirks you become invested in and the show constantly keeps you guessing. That’s what I look for in a show.
Highly recommend Queen of the South. Yes, it’s a little violent but it’s the cartel? What did you expect? Plus, Teresa is actually a good samaritan so it’s fun to root for her while causing all of the chaos.
