In a stunning turn of events, Tight End Foster Moreau took to Twitter tonight to tell his followers he would be stepping away from football as he battles Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Moreau, 26, wrote that his diagnosis was discovered during a physical with the New Orleans Saints. Moreau had been considering signing with the Saints, likely to play again with his former quarterback, Derek Carr. He stated that he will kick cancer’s ass and be back playing football again in the future.
“Through somewhat of a miraculous process, this Free Agency period has been life changing for me,” he said in a tweet. During a routine physical conducted by the Saint’s medical team down in New Orleans, I’ve come to learn that I have Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and will be stepping away from football (1/3)
at this time to fight a new opponent: Cancer. I’m grateful for the support and thankful for people who have stood firm with me. There hasn’t been a single step I’ve taken without hundreds of people lighting the path before me, and I will continue to seek their guidance. (2/3)
That being said, I’ll go kick this thing’s ass and get back to doing what I love! AMDG!“
Foster Moreau was a fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He would start his career as a pivotal special teams player before earning more reps at Tight End. He would play in 61 games, starting 14. He would go on to have 91 career receptions for 1,107 yards and 12 TDs. He had a career year in 2022, where he has 33 catches for 420 yards and two touchdowns.
Vendetta Sports Media sends their thoughts and prayers to Foster Moreau and his family, and we can’t wait to see him on an NFL field again!
