Draymond Green thinks Joel Embiid should win MVP

The man with a podcast and a voice, Draymond Green, has made his NBA MVP pick. In his latest episode of his podcast “The Draymond Green Show”, the NBA big man thinks the MVP award for this season is a two-man race. It is between multiple candidates, including Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo, but Green gave his nod to Embiid.

“Right now in the MVP race, I think it’s Joel. I think it’s Joel’s award to lose,” Green said. “I think the way he loses that award is his team starts losing, because Joel’s gonna put up Joel numbers, Joel gonna do what Joel been doing. It’s Joel’s award to lose.

“It’s interesting how much things are changing. You look at the standings, they’re changing. You look at this MVP stuff, it’s changing. Joel should get his first MVP this year,” Green said. “I don’t expect Philly to hit some crazy losing streak, and be that they won’t do that, it should be Joel’s to lose.” (Full quotes via theScore.)

Joel Embiid is in the midst of the best year of his career yet. Heading into Wednesday, Embiid was averaging 33.6 points per game. That is absurd. My jaw just dropped on the floor because of that. Green might be right. Embiid is nothing short of a superstar and an All-NBA player. He is also putting up 10.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game on 54.6 percent shooting and 35.1 percent from 3-point land this year too. Oh, don’t forget he is averaging nearly two blocks as well as a steal per game too.

I think Green is right to a certain extent. Embiid and Antetokounmpo are both great players, but it is not just a two-man race. I think Nikola Jokic needs to be in this conversation as well, along with Jayson Tatum. All four of these players deserve it in their own ways, as they’re all atop their respective conferences. This NBA season is coming down to the wire, so make sure to stay tuned with Vendetta to get all your NBA news!
