ESPN Fires Matt Hasselbeck
I can’t think of a day when ESPN laid more bodies to rest than today. The hits just keep coming. Former Packers, Seahawks, Titans and Colts quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has been fired by ESPN. Hasselbeck spent 17 years in the NFL prior to starting his media career with ESPN. His time at ESPN has now come to a close along with several others.
Front Office Sports was the first to report the news:
Matt Hasselbeck has been laid off by ESPN, a source confirmed to @MMcCarthyREV.

Hasselbeck, 47, spent most of his time with ESPN on “Sunday NFL Countdown”. Hasselbeck also contributed to a number of other ESPN TV and radio shows as an NFL guy. ESPN appears to be totally shaking up their NFL coverage. Where do I even begin? I’ll just drop some links below to others that have been canned in the NFL division.
Keyshawn Johnson, Steve Young, and Suzy Kolber are all known NFL people to be let go. Oh, don’t forget about Todd McFraud too on the NFL Draft side of things.
I’m not sure how much more there is to add with Hasselbeck. I can’t recall a time when one of his takes ever went viral. This is the first blog we have of him on the site. Maybe that was the problem. Too cookie cutter. Then again, that’s exactly what ESPN wants soooo. We know what the problem is. They need to look in the mirror at how they conduct business.
By all accounts, Hasselbeck is viewed as a really good guy. We’re talking about someone that won the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award in 2011.
