Don’t Eat The Cheese: 2022 Fantasy Football Tight End Busts

Tight ends are the only position remaining for the Don’t Eat The Cheese series in 2022. If you missed the posts on the quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers… feel free to click those links.

Finding the right tight end after the top few options is always tricky. It’s about taking the right gambles and that’s what I’m here to help you with. Which tight ends should you avoid on draft day? Don’t Eat The Cheese has you covered.

Mark Andrews (Ravens)

It was a big year for Mark Andrews in 2021. 1,371 yards and nine touchdowns is going to be tough to top for any tight end. I know Andrews is the primary target but how do you not get nervous about this offense?

Andrews has to carry the load again as the top target and continue to reel in around 10 touchdowns for him to be worth his draft price. Andrews is thought of as TE2 entering fantasy this year. Feel like I’m probably better served to wait my turn for Waller or Kittle, not?

Zach Ertz (Cardinals)

Make no mistake about it; Ertz was much better in the second half of the year with Arizona compared to his final stretch with Philadelphia. There are a lot of guys to throw the football here in Arizona. Hopkins, Brown, Moore, and Ertz?

Keep in mind, Arizona also drafted a tight end in the second round Trey McBride. Does anybody else hear Dallas Goedert music all over again? What happens if McBride can play? Too many mouths to feed, not enough balls to go around. I’d be terrified to pay any premium price for the Cardinals’ tight end.

Cole Kmet (Bears)

I just don’t think Cole Kmet has any talent. It’s been how many years now? Chase Claypool was the better talent at Notre Dame and it’s been proven over and over in the league. Why are we putting any stock that Kmet can turn things around? I’m shocked he’s ranked let alone in some people’s top 10 lists.
