Does Ryan Giggs Deserve A Second Chance?

Ryan Giggs, the Manchester United and PL legend, is free to resume his normal life. Earlier this week, the Manchester Crown Court dropped charges of domestic violence and coercive behavior against the Welshman. However, more information about his future is now available.

A source told Pat Hurst of PA Media that Giggs’ intention is to return to the sport that he spent over two decades as a player. His most recent stint in coaching was with the Wales National team before resigning in June 2022 ahead of the trial.

The question is now whether he deserves a second chance or not? The United product clearly loves football and has the skills and dedication to revive his career. However, it would not be a surprise to see teams hesitant to offer him a coaching job.

All of this was spurred from an alleged incident in November of 2020. It was debated in court that he had a physical altercation with his former girlfriend Kate Greville and her sister. Accusations against Giggs claimed he also displayed controlling behavior against Greville in their relationship for the better part of three years.

Court Of Public Opinion:

Violence against women is a very serious matter that sadly occurs in many professional athletes. While he is not guilty, Giggs likely has work to do to improve his reputation. One would assume that the Welsh national team could offer him re-employment in the near future.

However, a long time away from the game will probably make him strongly consider what kind of challenge he wants to take on. Having spent his whole playing career with the great Sir Alex Ferguson, it’s truly a complicated situation.

Ryan Giggs is a free man who wants to revive his reputation and career. With the trial out of the way, the legendary Welshman is back on the coaching market.
