Dillon Gabriel 2025 NFL Draft Profile

Dillon Gabriel will be an interesting 2025 NFL Draft profile to dissect. His strengths and weaknesses feel pretty obvious. This one will be about projecting what the Oregon quarterback can be going forward. Let’s get to the point because I have way too many of these to write yet..

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 2Week 3Week 6Week 7Week 8Week 10Conference ChampionshipsRose Bowl, Senior Bowl (1), (2), (3), Game

If you’re even somewhat paying attention to this one, you already know the elephant in the room. Dillon Gabriel isn’t just small for the position. He’s REALLY small for the position. At the Combine, the Oregon quarterback checked in at 5-foot-11, 205. When you’re that size, you really have to be an outlier athletically. Gabriel really isn’t that and didn’t run at the Combine.

Gabriel, 24, was followed closely during the Stock Report series. You have plenty to read if you want to go ahead and click those links at the top. Honestly, it doesn’t even include all of them. Those links are just the ones from this past year. I talked about Gabriel plenty when he was at Oklahoma and even had some articles during his time at UCF. Feel free to find what you need all over the website.

In totality, we’re looking at three years at UCF, two years with the Sooners, and then one final season with Oregon. The good news is he played basically right away as a freshman. Missed some time in 2021 the year he departed UCF. However, the year before he posted a 32-4 TD to INT ratio.

The best thing about Gabriel is that he just got more and more accurate the longer he was in college. posted a 69.3% completion his last year with Oklahoma. This past year he was at over 72% with Oregon. His numbers aren’t nearly as good as what Bo Nix did the season prior but they aren’t drastically worse either. Also, it was pretty obvious Oklahoma missed him as they failed to replace him once he left for Oregon.

The Hawaiian native had a dreadful Combine. I’ve used this comp before but I don’t know how to not mention it. He just looks like the overwhelmed version of Bryce Young with less magically elements in his game. During these All-Star events, it looks like the speed of the game has really affected him. Accuracy took a turn for the worse. A lot of misses and didn’t perform any better at the Senior Bowl. When looking at these guys all on the same stage, Gabriel was far worse than others in this class.

I think it’s worth investigating if he really has that touch accuracy on his side. I don’t think he’s close to Tua in that category and he needs to be to really make it at that size. 25% of his attempts were behind the line of scrimmage this past year at Oregon. Didn’t have many throws down the field either. Lacks arm power too.

The more you really dig into it, the more it’s hard to find reasons to suggest Gabriel will really be an outlier to overcome his size.

I have a 6th-7th round grade on Dillon Gabriel. He could carve out a role as a backup but it’s hard to imagine any high end starting potential here. He’s better than McKenzie Milton but he’s not close to Bryce Young. I can be talked into him being somewhere in that intermediate range between the two. Coaching will determine the rest.
