Dave Portnoy defends old-school New York City pizzerias
Dave Portnoy made a fiery stand on Twitter Monday, sounding off on his support for New York City Coal and Wood oven Pizzerias. This comes with reports that New York City’s Department of Environmental Protection could impose regulations that force the century-plus old restaurants to reduce carbon emissions by up to 75 percent. The Barstool Sports founder did not mince words in a video he posted on Twitter.

The issue is a tough nut to crack. On the one hand, people are becoming more environmentally conscious, and there’s no problem with that. However, there are certain lines like this you shouldn’t bother crossing. Portnoy does have a point that there are far bigger issues in the city than restricting pizzerias. With concerning crime rates, trash and littering everywhere you look, car emissions, vermin problems and more, should they reconsider their priorities?
As Portnoy eluded to, they are potentially shutting down one of the staples of New York. Among other things, NYC has been renowned for its pizza, which has been around for decades and decades. There will certainly be outrage from many directions if this moves forward.
Well-Rounded Dave
You can’t fault Portnoy for putting his two cents on most topics. Last week he had his say on the NBA Draft and No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama. He also made headlines earlier this month for trying to join protests against heated enemies Henry Blodget and Business Insider.
Now, if the New York City DEP puts this edict in place, he very well could get involved in more protests. He did vow to go for their throats after all.
Dave Portnoy will not hesitate to go to war for NYC Pizzerias. He made his thoughts incredibly clear on a very contentious topic. It is now a case of waiting and seeing how much further this moves along.
