Dave Dombrowski Is Going To Tank The Phillies Into Oblivion

Sometimes you just have the wrong man for the job. Dave Dombrowski was the architect for the 2018 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox. It was a perfect storm. Boston had a loaded farm system but were still missing pieces at the major league level to really compete. Dombrowski did what Dombrowski does; here comes big trade after big free agent signing. Combine that with the young talent the Red Sox had, and you had a perfect storm.

The problem is, that’s not the case in Philadelphia. This is a baren farm system with an imperfect roster at the major league level. The Phillies sit at 48-49 on the season and four games behind the Mets. Doesn’t matter. Dave Dombrowski is gearing up to do what he does. Bleed the farm system to WIN NOW.

Q: What’s the likelihood you have new personnel here in the coming days?
A: That’s a tough one. I can say the likelihood is I know we’ll be aggressive in making it happen. We have ownership support in trying to make things happen. They’ve been very supportive. But you never know if you can get a deal done or not. We’ll find out. There’s a lot of competition for players out there. But we’re going to try.

Q: Could you look to move guys if things don’t go well over the next seven days?
A: I guess all of a sudden if … we got crushed seven games in a row, and the Mets won seven games in a row, but that’s not what we’re looking for.

Dear god. Close your eyes Philly fans. If mediocrity wasn’t bad enough, here comes a big old slice of hell. Let’s be honest; the Phillies suck. Outside of Zack Wheeler, 90 percent of this roster is worthless. Sure, there are some decent pieces on the big league team but there is a reason why this team hasn’t made the postseason since 2011.

Combine the most aggressive general manager with an owner that literally said to the media, he wants to spend “stupid money”, you’re going to get disaster. With the 2021 MLB Trade Deadline coming up, it sounds like the Phillies want to make a big splash only to wind up missing the playoffs in the end. DEAR GOD.

This is bad. Real bad. You thought Rubén Amaro tanked the Phillies? No, no, no. Get ready for being tanked into oblivion. Philly fans everywhere watching their team should hope they lose every game leading up to the deadline. Even then, it probably won’t matter.
