Commanders Waive Emmanuel Forbes, Eventually Claimed By Rams

The Ron Rivera regime in Washington committed a lot of sins that need to be answered for. Emmanuel Forbes is one of those glaring mistakes and the Commanders are finally moving on. In a series of roster moves, the Commanders have cut Forbes and he’s since been claimed by the Rams.

— Placed RB Austin Ekeler on the Reserve/Injured List

Forbes, 23, was the 16th overall pick during the 2023 NFL Draft. He’s ANOTHER the first round draft pick the team has moved on from that was part of the Rivera era. During the offseason, the team was able to pull off a draft pick swap with the Eagles for Jahan Dotson. When it comes to Forbes, they simply just flushed the first round pick down the toilet instead.

I dropped my Combine notes in the embed of the article. I encourage you to read it because Forbes becoming a flop was always a very realistic outcome. A really great athlete who can run and jump but also very thin. Forbes was always considered a really raw player who needed to add strength. If you were going to give up on a project this soon, wtf was the point?

During his brief NFL career thus far, Forbes has notched 45 total tackles and two interceptions with 12 PBUs in 20 career games (7 starts) with the Commanders.

Scout Trey doesn’t need hindsight bias. The Vendetta draft team knew this pick was a mistake from day one. Taking Forbes in the first round was odd. Taking him as the first corner ahead of Christian Gonzalez was inexcusable.
