Saquon Barkley isn’t the only former Penn State product joining the Eagles prior to the start of the 2024-25 NFL Season. Philadelphia has struck a deal with the Commanders for Jahan Dotson, who was clearly in the dog house in Washington.
The Eagles team account were the first to release the news. The full details of the deal look like this. Dotson along with a 5th round pick heads to Philly. Washington will receive a third round pick and two 7th round picks in return.
Before I begin any further, don’t dismiss the Penn State part of this.
Which adds another wrinkle into how insane and stupid Joe Schoen is to have no clue the Eagles weren’t in on Barkley but we already covered that in great detail already.
Dotson, 24, was taken with the 16th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Which, of course, turns into another win for Trey but you already know I’m better at the NFL Draft than everyone else so we’ll keep it moving.
Dotson’s Commanders tenure ends with 84 receptions, 1,041 yards, and 11 touchdowns in two years. He’s now slotted in as the WR3 with AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith on the outside. Obviously, the Eagles didn’t love what they were seeing from the likes of Parris Campbell and Aianis Smith or they wouldn’t have made this move. In that role, I love Dotson’s chances but I’ll have some more follow-ups on this story to come later one.
