Cody Schrader 2024 NFL Draft Profile

We are zooming through the running backs for the 2024 NFL Draft class. Next up on the list to cover is Missouri running back Cody Schrader. Let’s talk about everything you need to know when it comes to Schrader.

Schrader wasn’t on anybody’s radar two years ago. Starting out your college career at Truman State probably has something to do with that. The numbers are Truman State are really good but what’s really the level of competition? Schrader climbed the depth chart pretty quickly and became the guy with the Tigers.

2022 can be described as pretty good as Schrader rushed for 745 yards scoring nine touchdowns on 170 carries (4.4 YPC). 2023 he took another massive step forward. Total bell cow and carried this rushing attack. 276 carries for 1,627 yards and 14 touchdowns. Also added 41 receptions for 328 yards over the last two years.

I see a lot of Peyton Hillis here. Overachiever vibes but runs hard and has heart. Six year college player who walked on to Missouri. Had some major performances against big time competition last year. Dominated in the Bowl game against Ohio State. Probably had the best RB performance against Georgia all year. Totally blew up against Tennessee and put the team on his back.

Checks in at 5-foot-8, 202. Definitely checks the production box over the projection box. Has no real recruiting background and was listed as a 0 star player. Ran a mediocre 4.61 at the 40. Got hit with a hamstring injury during the Combine. I think we have a pretty good idea of what we’re getting here anyway. Runs hard but never going to blow you away athletically.

I have an undrafted grade on Cody Schrader. Just don’t see any real ceiling to pull the trigger earlier than that. I’d be willing to make a call to him post draft as a college free agent, which is better than I’m willing to say about most of the RB’s coming out this year. Clearly a grinder and worth taking a flier on but not for any real draft cost. Probably destined to be a depth back at the very peak.
