CM Punk Returns To MMA Amidst AEW Departure Rumors
CM Punk has been at the center of all professional wrestling news since his press conference at All Out. Following that incident, there has slowly been more news coming out about what went down. But both sides of the party have different stories of what happened. This incident is a serious one as a third-party investigator has been hired to take a look at everything. Multiple wrestlers got suspended, but a few finally came back. And it’s looking like the Elite are making their return at Full Gear. Also, it’s been reported by Wrestling Observer that Ace Steel was released from AEW about a month ago. So that leaves one more person, CM Punk.
CM Punk, among the others, was suspended about two months ago. Since then, we haven’t heard much about the incident. But that’s mostly due to the situation being investigated by a third-party source. But one thing that has been reported is that AEW is trying to buy out Punk’s contract. Per Wrestling Observer, AEW was in talks with CM Punk to buy out the remaining years of his contract. Also, it’s worth noting that Punk suffered a pretty serious injury during his match at All Out and is likely out for nine months.
CM Punk Returns
So we haven’t seen much of Punk since the incident, well that was until he popped up at an MMA event. CM Punk was on commentary for a CFFC event on Thursday night. Punk has announced some MMA events in the past and he has even had a brief stint in MMA. But this was the first time fans have seen him publicly since the incident. Keep in mind, AEW isn’t too strict about what their wrestlers do outside of the company. But punk made an interesting comment to open the vent.
“I’m happy to be here, I’ve missed you, I’ve missed everybody watching at home, I’ve missed the fights, and tonight I’m not going to do that.”
CM Punk
These comments are interesting, to say the least. Punk was involved in the locker room fight that lead to a lot of drama and negative publicity toward AEW. So seeing him out in public gives fans a lot of questions. But it remains to be seen what happens with him and AEW moving forward.
