Chelsea FC has again been making the rounds of transfer news headlines. They recently announced the interest of signing Thiago Silva on a two-year deal. He’s set to have medical on Thursday, so this transfer may be coming true. However, it is now official that Chelsea has signed Leicester’s Ben Chilwell.
Chelsea has reportedly signed him for £50 million. Which, was a good deal since Leicester is losing one of their assets to the team.
Chilwell plays a left-back, which will greatly help out the blues. The 23-year-old molds into Frank Lampard’s vision for Chelsea.
“I am delighted to be joining Chelsea at this very exciting time for the club. I’m looking forward to being a part of this young, dynamic squad led by Frank Lampard as we challenge for honours next season,” Chilwell said.
Lampard has been on a mission to rebuild the whole team and is doing just that. After signing Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, the offensive line is looking strong by the day. There are still rumors that Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz is still working a deal with Chelsea.
If Chelsea can also close the deal on Thiago Silva then their backline will also become stronger.
The only line that Lampard is still after is trying to find a new goalkeeper. It hasn’t been a secret that Kepa Arrizabalaga is unhappy at the Blues and wants to make his way home to Spain. But, the club is still having a hard time finding a replacement.
Since Chelsea signed Chilwell and is on the verge of getting Silva, they will be a strong force this coming season. Hopefully, the mix of Premier League, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 players can find their new groove.
