Canucks Preparing To Fire Bruce Boudreau
The Canucks should be embarrassed for the way they are treating Bruce Boudreau. Andrew Cogliano came to the defense of Boudreau last night. There are no other words needed other than these words right here by Ryan Whitney.
It turns out the circus is almost over. Vancouver has had a tough time keeping it in their pants over their pursuit of Rick Tocchet. It appears the Canucks are done dancing around and are about to get this whole disaster over with.
David Pagnotta of NHL Network has reported that Bruce Boudreau will coach his last game with the Canucks tonight against Edmonton. A Monday press conference to announce the hiring of Tocchet will take place shortly after.
Boudreau, 68, has been a successful head coach in the NHL for a long time. The former Ducks, Capitals, and Wild head coach currently sports a 599-317-125 record in the NHL. Boudreau isn’t dumb. He knows exactly what’s about to come.
“I don’t know yet,” Boudreau said. “I’d be a fool to say I don’t know what’s going on. But like I’ve said before, you come to work, and you realize how great the game is…”
Boudreau is expected to be relieved of his duties after tonight. The drama in Vancouver will not end after his departure. Jim Rutherford has already spoken about the “major surgery” that’s needed for this Canucks roster. Tocchet has his work cut out for him. Unless Tocchet can walk on water, the dysfunction in Vancouver will likely remain.
