Call Her Daddy has found a new home, and starting in July it will become the only place you can listen to Alex Cooper’s stories. Call Her Daddy will now be exclusively on Spotify starting July 21st, as the Call Her Daddy Twitter account posted today.
Bringing over the popular sex and relationship podcast has quite the price tag. As reported by The Wall Street Journal, this deal could be around or over $20 million. Given the Twitter announcement, it is likely that some details of the deal will be released on a new episode of Call Her Daddy which will be airing at midnight.
The sex and relationship podcast was originally hosted by Alex Cooper along with Sofia Franklyn, both were discovered by Barstool on Twitter in 2018. Last year there were some public disputes and dirty laundry aired between the two hosts and Barstool Sports president David Portnoy. This was due to the terms of the hosts’ contracts. Cooper’s podcast has gained quite the following, with her audience largely constructed of young female listeners. According to the ranking firm Podtrac, Call Her Daddy was the fifth most-listened-to podcast in the United States.
Spotify has been a big player in the Podcast field lately. Last year they made a deal with Joe Rogan for The Joe Rogan Experience to become a Spotify exclusive. With that deal being worth $100 million according to billboard.com. Spotify also brought Bill Simmons’ The Ringer for around or more than $200 million. This is according to Variety.
