Ben Johnson Is “Excited To Work” With QB Caleb Williams

The Chicago Bears made a big splash by naming Ben Johnson their next head coach. Johnson was the former offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions. He orchestrated one of the highest-scoring offenses in the league in 2024. Now, in his first head coaching job he will be at the helm of the Chicago Bears. The Bears had a disappointing season last year finishing 5-12 with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. However, Ben Johnson listed Caleb Williams as a big influence in selecting the Bears coaching job.

“Caleb… I’m excited to work with you” – Ben Johnson

Caleb Williams is a controversial player as some people think he is a generational talent and others think he stinks. Admittedly, some people want to see him fail just because he is not the epitome of masculinity. Nevertheless, he had a pretty mid year as a rookie. There was a lot of good and bad throughout the season. However, it seems like Johnson liked what he saw from the young QB and Johnson believes he can help elevate the team.

“There is no doubt, Caleb played a large component into my decision. He is a phenomenal talent that had, as many quarterbacks do, an up-and-down rookie year.” – Ben Johnson

Johnson excelled as the offensive coordinator of the Lions and he had QB Jared Goff playing some of the best football of his career. Now, he will have another number one draft pick at QB, who has more upside, in Caleb Williams. Also, the Bears have a good wide receiving core but the offensive line needs immediate help. The Bears have been bad for some years now and it’s time for the rebuild to turn into a playoff team. It will be interesting to see if Ben Johnson can give the Bears some stability while giving Williams the boost to become the franchise savior he was drafted to be.
